Self Catering in The Lake District

Caring for people with disabilities and the older person

Nr. Windermere

The Beautiful Lake District

Mitchelland Farm is situated in a sheltered valley in England's largest National Park, amongst quiet fields between CROOK village and BOWNESS-ON-WINDERMERE just off the B5284 Kendal Road, three miles from Lake Windermere. (There is no public transport to the farm).

Stuart and Jane, a retired nurse, are happy to assist and sit with guests, who have disabilities, while the more able visitors enjoy active pursuits.

The Farm

We take great pleasure in welcoming guests to our home, a small working sheep and beef farm. Perhaps join in and learn about farming and the countryside. In Spring get involved with lambing and calving first hand.

Guests enjoy walking, watching birds and various wildlife including deer on and around the farm, tarn and becks. Other outdoor pursuits nearby include fishing, sailing, golf, the hire of mountain bikes and relaxing boat trips on the lakes.

Visitors speak warmly of the hosts' willingness to put themselves out for their guests, but ask the guests not to smoke inside.

Suitable for wheelchair users

Your hosts can accomodate people with disabilities, a large car park and wheelchair ramp opens up a spacious bungalow.
